Getting Back Your Fitness Focus

I know first hand how difficult a task it is to loss or maintain your weight. My troubles started shortly after I delivered my twins in 2005. I was considered high risk during my pregnancy so I had to refrain for any type of exercise which nearly drove me crazy! On top of not being able to exercise I was put on complete bed rest at 23 weeks of pregnancy until the delivery of my twins. During this time I gained a ton of weight. In total I believe I gained 80 – 90 pounds. I wasn't too worried because I had been a workout enthusiast for years so I was confident I would drop the weight quickly. Oh, how wrong I was! I was a new mom with twins and had very little time to exercise or eat properly (So I thought). I did not continue to gain weight but the extra weight was beginning to take a toll on me physically. I had constant knee pain, no energy and had not had a good nights rest for quite some time. I felt completely run down.

One day I thought to myself, by the time my kids would be able to walk I would not have the energy or strength to keep up with them. I knew I needed to find the time to take care of me!! I made the decision to make my health and fitness a part of my daily routine. I began walking on the treadmill during my lunch hour 5 days a week. I now run on the treadmill and workout 6 days a week. I ran my first ½ marathon in September 2007. I’m now 70 pounds lighter with 20 more to go!! Health and fitness is NOW the way I live.
